Senior Environmental Adviser – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

James leads the environmental and social risk team for the mining sector at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD).  He is responsibly to ensuring that mining projects supported by the EBRD are appraised, structured and implemented in line with EBRD’s Environmental and Social Policy (ESP). He played a key role in developing the EBRD’s mining strategy and the EBRD’s ESP and supporting guidance.  James routinely advises clients, lenders and governments on environmental and social risk management. James has also worked across multiple sectors at EBRD delivering renewable energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, and heavy industry projects. Prior to joining EBRD, James worked for various consultancies conducting environmental and social impact assessments and delivering advice to clients and lenders on major capital mining and oil and gas projects globally.
